ABOUT GT MECHANICAL
HOW IT ALL STARTED
GT Mechanical, Inc., founded in 1991 by Local 597 Pipe Fitter Tim Uher, is a
family-owned enterprise with a reputation for providing quality HVAC service,
products and system solutions to the Commercial, Institutional and Industrial
markets of the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana areas.
Tim’s vision for GT Mechanical was to become a full service HVAC company. In
2001, with GT Mechanical, Inc. running full force, Tim established a second
company, GT Mechanical Projects & Design, Inc. This division of GT was
established to specialize in the plan & spec and design/build process for HVAC
projects while GT Mechanical, Inc. continued to focus its expertise on the
Service and Maintenance portion of the business.
It was in 2001 that Tim’s brother Greg Uher joined the GT
Mechanical team to head up this new corporation and allowed Tim to remain
focused on the Service & Maintenance Division. With the creation of the second
company, Tim Uher was able to see his vision for his company, started 10 years
earlier, become a reality. GT Mechanical had now evolved into a full service
HVAC company by having the ability to offer customers a more complete HVAC
package from design to commissioning to servicing/maintaining an entire HVAC
system.
THE “GT” TEAM
Today, the professional team of GT Mechanical continues to be led by founder Tim
Uher and brother and co-owner, Greg Uher. Tim Uher has over 20 years experience
in installations and trouble shooting HVAC Systems and Greg Uher matches those
20 plus years of experience in HVAC engineering and commissioning. Both of
these individuals bring their vast HVAC knowledge and skills together to resolve
some of the most challenging HVAC issues. Tim continues to oversee the
direction of the Service & Maintenance Company and is even known to occasionally
take an active role in daily service calls to keep in touch with the customers
and to understand the challenges they face. While overseeing the daily
activities of the Projects & Design Division, Greg continues to apply his
numerous years of engineering experience to design an HVAC system that meets the
specific needs of our customers no matter how simple or complex.
The remainder of the GT Team is comprised of:
- Engineers who are well known in the Mechanical Industry for providing solutions and energy-efficient HVAC systems
- Union Labor – all service technicians and field labor employees are members of one of the
following Unions: Sheet Metal Local 73 or 265 or Pipe Fitter Local 422, 501 or 597
- Dedicated office staff to support not only the GT Team but also our customers
